she is a whiny b**** who would prefer to just lay there and have her husband have sex with her and then get up and leave than dare have any emotional connection to anyone. I believe that Toby loves her I do not believe that she loves him. her point of view is correct and the only point of view she will listen to. there is room for her to have growth but she at no point embraces her own desire, embraces her own individuality, nor does she learn to empathize with anyone else's point of view. she has no personal growth throughout this book. however it comes across as her being exceptionally fake and not true to her own self. CHARACTER SPOILERS: what I find so insufferable about this character is her belief that she is better than everyone else because of her altruistic tendencies.
out of all of the books I have read by this author this is my least favorite. I find her insufferable and I only finish this book because I paid for it. the love scenes are well written and you can feel the chemistry and then as soon as they are over the personality of Belle is such to erase whatever connection there was. Tessa dares writing as always is superb however the heroine in this book is absolutely unredeemable. I love Tessa Dare and up until this book I had never thoroughly disliked any of her characters to the extent that I dislike the heroin in this book. For if Toby wins this battle of persuasion, Isabel could lose her heart. If she can reform the charming devil, she'll get exactly what she craves: society's respect. Sir Toby, with his paltry title and infamous reputation, is unsuitable husband material - but he makes her blood race, her heart pound, and her long-buried passions come to the surface. Isabel is determined to marry a wealthy, powerful lord and become a lady of influence, using her rank and fortune to fight social injustice.
